FIND OUT MORE

Can I see an exercise physiologist/personal trainer at Club Lime even though I’m not a member?

Yes. Even if you’re not a member of Club Lime, you can still receive support from one of the

Fundamental Physiology team. There are additional fees for non-members, but we welcome everyone.

Can I see an exercise physiologist, even though I don’t have a referral?

You don’t need to have a referral to come and see us. If you do have a condition that we’re managing/treating then more information, the better, so a referral from a GP or other healthcare provider can assist us in forming a quality and individualised plan for you.

If you do have a chronic condition, then you can download this form and take it to your

GP/practice nurse to fill out and they will then send the referral on to us.

What is an exercise physiologist?

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are university qualified allied health professionals equipped with the ability to create and deliver safe and effective exercise interventions for people with acute, sub-acute or chronic medical conditions, injuries or disabilities. We can work with you to create treatment plans for a wide variety of conditions with that exercise can improve the client’s clinical status.

To gain AEP accreditation with ESSA an individual must:

  • Graduate from a minimum 4 years of study in an ESSA accredited course meeting the AQF requirements, leading to bachelor’s degree qualifications

  • Meet the professional standards for exercise science and exercise physiology, with both practical and classroom based components, leading to accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Scientist (AES)

How do I book an appointment?

The best way to book an appointment is to call or email our contacts. You will shortly hear back from one of the team, who will find a time that suits you to get you on track to where you need to be.

What kind of sessions do you do?

At Fundamental Physiology, we are offer a number of different types of sessions. We can do face-to-face one on one, buddy sessions (bring a friend or family member along), or group sessions (maximum of 5 people).

Each session is catered to your individual needs to make sure that you are working towards your goal.

Do you offer any free sessions?

No. As allied health professionals it takes years of experience in understanding to give you the best quality of service. This insures that when we have a consultation that you are getting complete and undivided attention.

I have never been to a gym before, what should I expect?

One of our qualified clinicians will make you feel comfortable in the gym and show you around. During our first session we’ll sit down and talk about your goals and what you want out of us. After our conversation we will then move towards the gym area where we’ll conduct a visual assessment. This will help guide us on your exercise prescription that will be tailored to your needs.

How long is a session with your team?

Our sessions vary depending on your needs. The initial session can be between 45-60 minutes, following that, subsequent 30 and 45 minute consultations will be delivered. Our group sessions are roughly 60 minutes. Your clinician will generally advise that you come in a few minutes before hand and warm up, excluding your assessment sessions. It is advised to wear active wear or something that you feel comfortable getting a sweat in, as this is one of the side effects of exercise. Enclosed shoes must be warn in the gym, however depending on the injury we may ask you to take your shoes off.

Do you offer written, self-guided plans?

At Fundamental we do write plans after your initial consultation. However, we want to make sure you know what you are doing as anyone can get a cookie cutter program online. We pride ourselves on quality not quantity and may evaluate your personalised plan and technique as needed to ensure you are getting the most out of your sessions.
